Class 4

Class 4 children are at the top of the Pre-Prep Department and they start moving around the School for a small number of lessons in readiness for their admission to Form I of the Prep School.

The full curriculum is followed and pupils have specialist tuition for art, music, French and IT. All children in Class 4 learn to play the recorder and are able to have 'taster' sessions on the violin.

Homework is set each day and will generally consist of reading with perhaps a request to bring in an object or source some information from home.

Children in Class 4 continue with Abacus Maths and many reading schemes, including the Oxford Reading Tree and many children will become 'free readers' at this time having completed the set books. Children in Class 4 are given additional responsibilities with regard to the younger children in the Pre-Prep and this also helps develop confidence.  In the September following their 7th birthday, children enter the Prep School.
